This rebuild and expansion project on the east side of Keuka Lake was challenged by a requirement to retain the building footprint of the seasonal cabin currently on site. The design capitalizes on this constraint by growing upward, adding a new wide-open upper living level with panoramic views across Keuka Lake. The design expands the 850-sf cabin into a three-bedroom 1,600-sf home with a roof patio and exterior terrace. The warm palette of white walls and wood floors serves as a backdrop to the lushly forested glacial valley below, while the slate tile exterior is a nod to the geologic forces that formed the steep slopes of the Finger Lakes.
